Workshop Activities

Introduction

  1. Presenters with their roles
  2. Participants identify themselves with strengths, either curriculum or technology, stand in corresponding groups, and receive pen (tech) or pad of post-it paper(curr).
  3. Participants then group themselves in planning teams of about 3. Each planning team must have at least one tech and one curr person. People who came in school groups remain in those groups.

Definition: The Teacher Technology Academy is a one-year professional development experience providing a powerful technology integration model and supporting teachers as they implement the model in their classrooms. TTA begins with an intensive one-week summer experience and continues with a full year of professional networking and support (online and on site).

Expectations for the day

Participants will:

  • Hear and see the vision, structure, and follow-up activities of the TTA.
  • Participate in the process and use resources to frame up their own academy.
  • Leave with a draft action plan and continued access to resources (templates, web sites, etc.) on the TTA web site.

What range of technology integration do you see in the following scenarios video 1, video 2, video 3 ? Working in small groups, each group view one video and decide where it fits it on the range of use diagram. Look for evidence to answer the following questions:

  • What complexity of thinking is required of the learner?
  • How authentic is the learning task?
  • Is the instructional approach traditional or constructivist? Who (teacher or students) makes the decisions; who takes responsibility for learning?
