Title: Under the Ocean
Topic: Learning about animals that live in the ocean
Plan description: Through various activities listed in this WebQuest, students
will learn about animals that live in the ocean. We will learn about the animals
through pages that are linked to this WebQuest containing information about the
animals as well as pictures and video clips. The students will use the knowledge
that they gain to create an Ocean Picture Dictionary. They will also create an
Ocean ABC book as well as an Ocean counting book.

each animal.
3. Students will create an animal picture in KidPix using the help of their book
buddy to write sentences.

Learning
Task
- The students
will learn the names and characteristics of each ocean animal.
- The students
will create a Picture Dictionary about the ocean animals, as well
as an ocean counting book, a KidPix creation, and models of the
animals that we study.
- The students
will participate in the WebQuest as a whole group and then be asked
to complete individual as well as small group projects.
- The students
will be involved in the ocean unit for 2 to 3 weeks. We will begin
each day by referring to the WebQuest for information about the
animals.
- The tools that
are needed to complete this project are: computer, t.v., digital
video camera, materials to create models, dictionary, KidPix page
and counting book.
- The students
will create a picture dictionary, animal models, KidPix page, and
a counting book
- I have created
a rubric on my WebQuest that will be used to assess my students
learning. I will also be assessing my students through observation.
Assessment and
Evaluation measures: How will the learning goals be assessed and
evaluated?
The students projects will be evaluated at the completion of each individual
project. As the students complete their work, they will turn them into their
teacher and they will be assessed based upon the criteria in the rubric. The
students will also be evaluated through observation by the teacher.

- The students
will create various products that will be displayed in three ways
(bulletin board, classroom books and through oral presentations)
- All students
will be given the opportunity to share a piece of their choosing
with the class.
- The students
will be given the opportunity to attend a field trip to the Indianapolis
Zoo, where they will continue to add to their picture Dictionary
as well as make digital movies about the animal of their choosing.
